VFD Troubleshooting Study Guide
VFD troubleshooting questions become easier when the system is divided into command, reference, drive state, motor and load, programming, and external-control layers.
A stopped motor does not automatically mean the drive is defective, and a displayed fault should be treated as evidence about the system rather than the complete diagnosis.
- Keep the run command separate from the speed or process reference.
- Use the displayed drive state or fault as evidence.
- Include the connected motor and mechanical load in the reasoning.
- Account for local, terminal, PLC, network, and process-control command sources.
- Real drive service must follow manufacturer and workplace energy-control requirements.
